Stephen V. Hamn, MD
Stephen Victor Hamn graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his residency at University of Missouri in 1987.
Dr. Hamn served in various medical capacities with the U.S. Air Force for two years before occupying several general surgery positions with a few different organizations. In 1995, he opened a private practice in Plano, Texas.
Dr. Hamn is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow with the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons and the Collin-Fannin County Medical Society.
Dr. Hamn specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of obesity and obesity-related health issues.

Russ D. Birdwell, MD
Russ D. Birdwell graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Birdwell has been in practice at North Dallas Surgical Specialists for eight years.
Dr. Birdwell is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society.
Michel K. Stephan, MD
Michel K. Stephan has more than eight years of experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery and more than five years of experience in laparoscopic bariatric surgery.
Dr. Stephan completed his general surgery residency at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, Pa. and Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1980. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1981.
Dr. Stephan is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and is a fellow with the American College of Surgeons. He also participates in several professional societies, such as the American Society of Bariatric Surgery, American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society.

Mark L. BaileyMark L. Bailey, MD
Mark L. Bailey has been practicing surgery for more than 16 years and has worked in both private practice and with Texas Surgery Associates.
Dr. Bailey graduated Cum Laude from University of Texas at Austin and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He completed his general surgery residency at Baylor College and affiliated hospitals, including The Methodist Hospital, St Luke’s Episcopal and Texas Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Bailey is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow with the American Board of Surgeons. Christopher J. Cottrell, MD
Christopher J. Cottrell has been a practicing surgeon for several years and has worked at Surgical Consultants of North Platte, North Platte, Nebraska and at North Dallas Surgical Specialists.
Dr. Cottrell graduated from Texas Tech University and received his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Center, Lubbock, Texas. He completed his residency at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver where he was named Resident of the Year, General Surgery, in 2004.
Dr. Cottrell is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow with the American Board of Surgeons.
Mehta SacheenSacheen Mehta, MD
Sacheen Mehta has been a practicing orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine doctor for more than eight years. He completed his residency at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation, working as chief resident, and completed his fellowship at Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. He has been in private practice for seven years and is on staff at the Richardson Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Mehta graduated with distinction from University of Missouri-Kansas City with a B.A. in both biology and chemistry. He received his medical degree from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, graduating with honors.

Duc P. VoDuc P. Vo, MD
Duc P. Vo attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he received a Foundation Scholarship and completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He received additional training in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.
Dr. Vo is certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society.

Edward R. Franko, Jr., MD
Edward R. Franko, Jr. has been practicing colon and rectal surgery for more than 16 years and is currently practicing at North Texas Colon and Rectal Associates in Dallas and Garland, Texas. He completed his residency in general surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Long Island Jewish Medical Center where he received an award for Outstanding Chief Resident, and he completed his colorectal fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center.
Dr. Franko graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a B.S. in biology and chemistry. He graduated seventh in his class of 150 from the Medical College of Toledo, Ohio, with honors in physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, internal medicine, orthopaedics, and radiology.
Dr. Franko is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, and is licensed in New York and Texas. Michael J. Pendola, MD
Michael J. Pendola graduated with Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in chemistry and biology from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and graduated Cum Laude from Creighton University School of Medicine. He completed both his general surgery residency and his colon and rectal fellowship at Baylor University School of Medicine where he was awarded Chief of the Year award in 2003.
Dr. Pendola is licensed in the state of Texas and is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
Michael W. Cowart, MD
Michael W. Cowart has been in private practice in Garland, Texas, for more than 17 years, after spending several years working in public and private medical facilities and clinics throughout Texas. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Dr. Cowart graduated with highest honors from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Clinical Audiology and received his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. Jorge C. Gabilondo, MD
Jorge Gabilondo, who specializes in internal medicine and gastroenterology, has been in private practice for more than 30 years. He received his medical degree from San Marcos University in Lima, Peru, then came to the United States to complete his residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis and his fellowship at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga.
Dr. Gabilondo is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology, gerontology and internal medicine.
Arif B. Kahn, MD
Arif B. Kahn has been in private practice for interventional pain management for more than five years. Prior to that, he worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the University of Texas, as well as an attending anesthesiologist at the Dallas Veterans Medical Center. He completed his residency at New York Methodist Hospital and his fellowship at New York University Medical Center.
Dr. Kahn received bachelor’s degrees in medicine and surgery at Jawahrlal Nehru Medical College at Aligarh University, Aligarh, India, and completed his general surgery residency degree in Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
Dr. Kahn is certified in anesthesiology and pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is licensed in New York and Texas. He is a member of the International Spine Injection Society, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, Texas Society of Anesthesia, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Texas Pain Society and North Texas Pain Society.
Morris Gottlieb, M.D.Morris B. C. Gottlieb, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Morris B. C. Gottlieb graduated with a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University. He received his medical training at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, during which time he did cancer research under the direction of one of the most prominent researchers in the field.
He completed his residency at Duke University Medical School, one of the best ENT programs and one of the largest tertiary care centers in the nation. He is board certified in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a distinction that fewer than 1% of all surgeons hold. He serves on two national committees of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and remains active in both the Texas and Collin County Medical Associations. He recently served as the Chief of Surgery at Richardson Regional Medical Center and serves on the Executive Board of the Hospital.
Dr. Gottlieb has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed medical and scientific journals. Dr. Gottlieb’s practice interests include pediatric otolaryngology, allergies/sinus disorders, and thyroid conditions.
